The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White for the top layer and a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic White for the back of that top layer.
Next I cut 1/4" strips of card stock at least 5-1/2" long. You want them long so you don't have an issue with white showing on the ends. For my card I used Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Peach Pie, and Petal Pink. I taped them in place on the right side of the card stock. I made sure they butted up against each other so there were no gaps between them.
Now came the tricky part. Using the 3rd die in the "Nested Essentials" set I cut out the piece. I had to make sure I lined it up so it was equal on each side or the Petal Pink lined on the cut out piece wouldn't line up with the Petal Pink piece on the right side of the piece. I lucked out here. I had made a second one at the same time and I messed it up. It would be easier with something that had corners to line up, like a hexagon or a square. But I chose this shape for some odd reason! Anyway, once it was cut out I taped the 4" x 5-1/4" piece to the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece. Then I taped the cut out piece back in the opening but I turned it around. This is where you can see that the Petal Pink lines up.
The words were next. I stamped them from the "Simply Said" set using black Memento ink.
Then the flower was made. It's from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle. I cut out two petal pieces using Cajun Craze card stock. The center was cut from a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock and the top layer on the flower was cut from Peach Pie card stock. I cut a Mossy Meadow leaf. I glued the flower pieces together and set them aside.
Dimensionals were added to the back of the 4" x 5-1/4" piece and it was set in place on the card base.
Then the flower was added and a little glue was added to the end of the leaf and it was tucked in under the flower.
I took some retired "Polished Dots" and colored them using my dark Cajun Craze Blends pen. I set them in place on the white part of the cut piece and the card was done.
I'm not thrilled with that wide open space on the left side. I think maybe I should have added the flower stem there, it looks like it needs something.
This was a fun card to make and should I make another one I think I will use something with corners that I can line up to make doing that cut out piece easier.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thank you card,
Wanda
