The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.
I cut a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer. I scored it on the back at 3/8" from the edge all around and then 1/2" all around.
The circle in the middle came next. I used the third largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" set. In making it the score lines got a little squished so I rescored them.
For the background piece I used some paper that I had made on January 23rd. You can see that information by clicking here. I had scrubbed on several colors of inks on a full sheet of card stock. I still have a lot of it left so I thought I'd use it for this card since I didn't have any background paper that I liked or that would work for this card. I cut a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of that paper and taped it to the back of the scored piece making sure it all covered the circle.
I took the circle that I had cut out and cut the second smallest circle from the same "Stylish Shapes" set. I didn't have a use for that circle, plus I had a lot of other ones in my stash.
Next came the fun part. Using that same colored card stock I die cut the flowers. The flowers on the green stems were cut from Basic White card stock (I cut 2) and colored the stems with my light Granny Apple Green Blends pen and the petals with Petal Pink. I also die cut some leaves using Granny Apple Green card stock. I cut 3 sets. The die has two leaves on it. The flowers and leaves are from the "Heart Shaped" bundle.
The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the die from the "Heart Shaped" bundle.
I began adding the flowers. I started with the ones I colored using my Blends pens. Then the other flowers were added, going around the circle. I had glued them in place. Then I glued the leaves. Once I had enough flowers on the circle (there's 7 clustered there) I added glue to the word piece and set it on the front of the card. I made sure the top edge of it was almost centered. I put one last flower near the "H" and added a few more leaves.
Small pearls were added to the center of the flowers and 7 more on the outside of the circle.
The piece was then glued to the card base. My pic looks like the corners are bent but it's because the glue was still wet when I took the photo. Once the glue dried it looked a lot better.
This was such a fun card to make and I think I may just have to keep it because I REALLY like it.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
