Happy Hibiscus, Adventurous Sky, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that I found on Pinterest. You can see that card by clicking here. I just thought it was so pretty that I had to give it a try. There's instructions in the link on how it was made. I pretty much followed it. Please read on to see how I put it together since I did make a few changes.

My card starts off with a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut a 5-3/8" x 4-1/8" piece of Petal Pink card stock and taped it to the card base. On top of that is a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White card stock and that was taped to the Petal Pink piece. And on top of that is a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that's from the "Regal Distressed Patterns" 12" x 12" package. It measures 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" and was taped to the Basic White piece.

Next the Petal Pink strips were cut. They measure 1/2" x 4-3/4". You need two of them. I stamped the words from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle using Versa Mark and I embossed them using gold embossing powder. I taped them to the front of the card. It about 3/8" from the bottom edge of the card.

Then the flowers were made. They are from the "Happy Hibiscus" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on Basic White card stock. Color them first. These were colored using the following Blends pens Daffodil Delight (D), Cajun Craze (L) and Flirty Flamingo (D). Now the piece is lined up in the "Happy Hibiscus" embossing folder along with the die and they are textured and cut at the same time. The mistake I did making my card was I colored after I textured and the texture is not as deep as I would have liked it to be.  But that's okay, I plan to make another one this weekend to practice with this hybrid embossing folder.

The leaves were stamped than then colored in using Granny Apple Green (D) and Old Olive (L).  An Old Olive card stock leave was die cut too.

A couple of strips of tape were added where the flowers are going to go and 24" of gold thread was wound around the area.

I used glue to put the flowers and leaves in place. The large flower went first, then the second largest and then the smallest. Once they were set up enough I added the Old Olive card stock leaf and then tucked in the other leaves.

A couple of brass butterflies were added and the card was done.

I'm pleased with the way it turned out but will be much happier with my second attempt this weekend.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
