The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. Then I cut it to 4" x 5-1/4". My plan was to have the layer on the left be smaller than the textured piece but I didn't measure right so I had to tape it over the textured piece. Had I not glued all of the textured pieces down I would have cut it in half but I wasn't thinking. I try to remember the old saying, "measure twice, cut once". I measured once and thought it was right. It still looks good but it wasn't what I had in my head.
Anyway, I taped the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Sentimental Christmas" 12" x 12" package to a piece of Shaded Spruce card stock. The DSP measured 2" x 5" and the card stock measured 2-1/4" x 5-1/4". Once they were taped I glued them to the left side of the card. I had to line up my piece over the textured piece to hide it.
Next came the cute snowman. I do now know the name of the set it came from. It's been retired for many years. From the looks of it I colored it in using a Blending Pen and ink pads. I had sponged the edges with what I think was Lost Lagoon ink. It looks and feels like the paper is watercolor paper. I removed the Basic Black layer and added a Shaded Spruce one. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the lower part of the card.
The words are from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and were stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the smallest die from the "Greetings of the Season" bundle. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.
Using glue, I added 3 of the cute snowflakes from the "White Loose Snowflakes" container. I made sure a large one covered the hole on the word piece. The dies in that set are tags. I added another snowflake on the upper left and one on the snowman piece. And I was able to make all 6 of those snowmen into cards! I may use them this year for our cards, I can just add them to the stash, right? Why not! It's not like everyone gets together and compares to make sure everyone got the same card! LOL
It was fun making this card and knowing that I was able to use the snowmen I had found by adding it to some current products. It made my day and I think it made a cute card. I love the colors.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's salvaged Christmas card,
Wanda
