Happiest Day, Friendship Card, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I was looking at the stamp sets I have and I ran across one that I hadn't used yet. Yup, I hadn't used it yet.  I may have purchased too many sets because they caught my eye and I had to have them. I don't know why this one caught my eye but it did.  I searched the net to find a fun card to see what I can make with the set and this one peaked my interest. I'm not sure what category this card would fall under. Is it a thank you card or a friendship card? What do you think? You can see they original card here. There were no instructions so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

For the layers I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black, on top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic White and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Unbounded Beauty" 12" x 12" package was cut at 3-3/4" x 5". I set the DSP piece aside and taped the two other layers together and then I set them aside.

The strip for the words was cut at 4-1/4" x 1-3/4" and the Basic Black Layer behind it was cut at 4-3/8" x 1-7/8".  

I stamped the words and dragonfly outline at the same time. I lined them up on the piece and using my Stamparatus I stamped them together. Actually I used my small MISTI, my Stamparatus has some other stamps in it that I'm using to make multiples of cards for holiday cards as a gift for a friend. Anyway, after stamping those I stamped the wings. I used Flirty Flamingo for the top part of the wings. I think I should have stamped off once so it wasn't so dark and would go better with the DSP.  The bottom part of the wings were stamped using Daffodil Delight.

Oops I forgot about the arrow pieces. I stamped those in the opposite corners using Flirty Flamingo ink. Then I taped the Basic White piece to the Basic Black layer. I taped that to the front of the card. Normally I don't do that, I will set it on the area it's going to go so I can see where to stamp on the piece it will be taped to but I figured I really couldn't ruin the sun so I went ahead and taped it down.

Daffodil Delight was also used to stamp the sun and the rays. There are two separate stamps. I stamped them using my MISTI and I stamped them three times to get them dark. I should have used Crushed Curry and it would have showed up better. But it is what it is and noting it here I will know better in the future what to do to make the sun darker.

I taped the DSP piece to the Basic White piece and then that was taped to the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I am anxious to play with this set again.
