Unbounded Love, Thoughtful Wishes, Thoughtful Journey, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a sympathy card to share with you. What caught my eye when I saw this card on the internet was the layout.  You can see the original card here. There's a printout of the card layout. Please read on to see how I made this card. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. 

Next I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Night of Navy card stock and I textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued it to the front of the card.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) I used is from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" stack.  Two 3" x 3" pieces were cut.  One piece was cut into 1" strips (this is where I strayed from the original directions) and the other piece was cut into 4 triangles, it was cut from corner to corner, you will only be using two of those pieces.

The Night of Navy piece that will be behind the strips was cut at 3-1/4" x 3-1/8" (I deviated from the original instructions here too).  And the Basic White layer behind this piece measured 3-3/8 x 3-1/4" (and again I deviated from the original instructions).  

Using the "Unbounded Love" bundle I stamped the words on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using Night of Navy ink. Black Memento ink would work to since Night of Navy is so dark it almost looks black.  I cut the words out using the die from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle. 

The flowers and stems were cut using the "Thoughtful Wishes" bundle and Basic White card stock.

To assemble the rest of the card I added the triangles on top of the textured piece I had previous glued to the front of the card. With a pencil I lightly marked center on each side. I glued the triangles down matching the tip to the pencil mark. I then erased the pencil mark. I use a kneadable eraser to do that. I highly recommend them because they do not rip your paper or make it pill.  It removed the graphite cleanly.  

The strips were added to the Night of Navy piece and then the Basic White layer was added. The piece was then glued to the front of the card, centering it as much as I could by eyeing it.  

Dimenisonals were added to the back of the word piece and it was set in place on the front of the card but I didn't press down on it because I needed to slip the white pieces under it and I didn't want to be stopped by a Dimensional.  I added a little bit of glue to the ends of the white pieces and they were slipped in place under the word piece. The word piece was then pressed in place and the card was done. 

I like how the card turned out and I REALLY like this layout. It's the triangles on the sides that did it for me. I can see myself using this layout again.
