Spotlight on Nature, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Happy 4th of July!

Today I have a thank you card to share with you. I found the card on Pinterest and I changed it some. I don't like to do square cards because I don't have square envelopes. I do still have the envelope maker but to be honest, I never really learned how to use it.  When I do need to make a square card I often use the "Book Fold" technique so it's still a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" card when I'm done.  Today I just moved the orientation of the card and it worked.  You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I made my card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

a 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Basic White card stock was cut for the top layer. I used the dotted image in the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle and Pumpkin Pie ink that was stamped off once. Then I textured the piece using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I set this piece aside.

The circles were cut next. They are from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. I used the second largest "dashed" circle in the set for the outside circle. I used the next smallest circle on that side of the circles. When I say "that side of the circles" it's because there's two sheets of circles. There's a total of 12 circles in the set. I also used the fourth circle on that same group. So to recap here, I used the second, third and fourth circles in that group.

After cutting the circles I took the hashmark image and stamped some Smoky Slate images, I did stamp off once before stamping on the largest circle. Only stamp in the middle area. I had taken the circle that came out of the next circle and traced around it on the larger circle to make sure I didn't go outside of that area.  I use an art gum eraser aka kneadable eraser to remove pencil marks. I highly recommend getting one. It will remove pencil marks without pilling and tearing your paper. It removes them cleanly too, well unless you pressed down too hard. No eraser will remove that. I draw lightly and then I can erase the marks easily.

Then I added Dimensionals to the second circle and set it in place on top of the largest circle

I stamped two of the floral images, one leave cluster and one butterfly. I fussy cut them then I colored them. Usually I color first in case I mess up the coloring I wouldn't have wasted my time cutting. But this time I cut first and then colored after. I used my Blends pens to color. I used both light and dark Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green.

I used the original card as a reference for placing the pieces. I realized that I needed to cut the middle size flower from one of the bunches and I did save the rest of the piece. I trimmed off any stem parts and added it to my stash for hopefully a future card. I had put a Dimensional behind the middle size flower on the right and one behind the tiny flower on the left. Glue was added where the large flower and the leaves touch the circle. I set the circle on the front of the card but did not glue it down.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the butterfly and it was just sitting on top of the card too.

The "thanks" is from the same set and was stamped using black Memento ink. I fussy cut around it and it was now ready for the assembling.

Once I moved the circle around to where I thought it looked best I glued it in place.

The butterfly as added next and then the word piece. I added a piece of a Dimensional behind the "s" on thanks and glue in the middle of the word and it was set in place on the circle. And the card was done.

I didn't add any bling to the card, I liked it just the way it was. I usually don't mind fussy cutting but this was not fun. There's lots of little thin areas to cut around and lots of nooks and crannies.  I do know for a fact I won't be making another one of these in the future! But I do like hot it turned out.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thank you card,
Wanda
