Spotlight on Nature, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that I found on Pinterest. What caught my eye about this card was the half-circle. It was different from what I'd seen around so I thought I would give it a try. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I made it.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

The first thing I did was I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White and taped it to the inside.

Next I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Countryside Inn" 12" x 12" package. I cut it at 4" x 5-1/4" and taped it to the front of the card.

Then I cut the Boho Blue circle. The die is from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. I tried cutting it in half but overshot it which was a happy mistake. So from the outer edge to the cut line it's 2" across.

The flowers are from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them using a die from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. 

I colored the flowers in using my Blender pen and Boho Blue ink. I used my Blender pen because I didn't purchase the Blends markers.  I don't usually buy them in the in-colors because they aren't around long enough to get the use out of them for the money. So I just do what I can they way I can and so far it works. The greenery was colored in using my light and dark Granny Apple Green Blends markers.

A 1/2" x 4" strip of Night of Navy card stock was cut for the middle part of the card. I taped it to the front of the card a bit off center. The right edge of the strip is 2-3/4" from the right edge of the Night of Navy card base.

The Boho Blue half-circle was taped in place, butting up the center cut edge to the right edge of the strip.

I tried to find some small "happy birthday" words in my current sets but had no luck. I was going to change it to a thank you card but I needed a birthday card. SO I took out my old favorite "Days to Remember" set and stamped the happy birthday in it on the circle.  

Dimensionals were added to the back of the circle and the piece was set in place on top of the half-circle getting it equally spaced around as much as I could. 

Three pearls were added and the card was done.

I thought it turned out pretty well considering what I was working with.  My DSP was gifted to me and the pieces were cut 4" x 6" and I only had two that had an orientation that I could work with. I'm happy with it. I can see the half-circle, which was what caught my eye on the original card so all in all I'm pleased.
