Sketched Butterfly, Flowering Zinnias, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that I made using scraps on my worktable. Please read on to see how I made my card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

On my worktable I found a piece of "Designer Series Paper" DSP from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. It measures 3-3/4" x 3-3/4".  I cut a 4" x 4" piece of Basic Black for the layer. I taped the two pieces together and then taped that to the front of the card leaving about 1/4" spacing on the three sides.

The pretty floral piece was from an embossed piece I had sitting on my worktable. I had used the "Layering Florals" embossing folder. It measures 2-1/2" x 3-1/8".  On the backside, the side that the images dents in instead of bumps out, I colored the flowers and leaves using my light and dark Blends pens. I used Real Red, Daffodil Delight (dark) and Granny Apple Green.  Once the coloring was done I took my black Memento ink pad and dragged it over the backside of the piece to cover the flat white areas. When I finished with that I set the piece aside to dry. In the meantime I cut the Basic Black layer. It measures 2-3/4" x 3-1/2".  When the piece was dry I glued it to the Basic Black layer. Then that was taped to the front of the card.

The words are from the "Sketched Butterfly" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap of Basic White card stock. I used the "Stylish Shapes" set to cut the word piece and the Basic Black layer. The piece was set in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

How fun was that to use scraps? I didn't make a clean spot on my worktable yet, I'll let you know when that happens (if it ever happens!! LOL).

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
