Sketched Butterflies, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer. 

Using the second smallest rectangle from the "Deckled Rectangle" dies set I cut the opening on the left side about 3/4" from the top edge and 1/2" from the left side. 

A piece of scrap Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6"package. The piece needs to be at least 2" x 3-1/2". I ran my tape around the back of the opening and I set the piece of DSP in place.

The words are from the "Sketched Butterflies" bundle and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink. After stamping the words I set the piece in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. 

I cut the butterfly off a group of three from the bundle. I figured I could get two good butterflies from the three by carefully cutting them from each other. I used Basic White card stock for the butterflies. I set the butterfly in place using a trimmed Dimensional and the card was done.

This was a perfect way to use scraps of DSP. I just love the way the card turned out. It's plain and simple but yet it's elegant. I am thinking I can make a few cards using this layout and more scraps in my stash. It will use up the smaller ones! I may be keeping this card on display in my workroom for a while because I just love the looks of it.

I think it would be a great look for several other occasions too, like Mother's Day, Get Well, Thinking of You, Friendship, and Sympathy.
