The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Daffodil Delight. It was cut in half on the short side so once cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11" before folding.
A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was taped to the inside.
On the outside a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" stack that was cut at 4" x 5-1/4". I taped it to the front of the card.
Next I cut a piece of Smoky Slate card stock that measured 2" x 4-1/8". I cut the "ribbon" ends in at 5/8" at the center. I cut from the outside corner to 1" in and 5/8" up. Hope that makes sense. I mark mine lightly with a pencil to get it close to even. I textured this piece using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I tried to place the piece on the folder to avoid most of the brick and just pick up the dots. I glued that in place on the front of the card, centering it as much as I could by eyeing it.
I cut a Basic White "Deckled Circle" from the die set. I used the 2-1/2" one. I masked it off and taking my blending brush I scrubbed on some Balmy Blue ink. I also scrubbed a little in the sky area. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card about 1-1/4" from the top edge.
The pieces were then die cut. I cut the cattails using Basic White card stock and colored them in using my Blends pens. I used light Granny Apple Green and light and dark Smoky Slate for the cat tails. Hindsight I should have used something in the brownish family. The ducks were die cut using Basic White too and colored in using the light Smoky Slate Blends pen. My pen was pretty dry so the color is very light. I guess I need to order another set of those. The beaks and wings were die cut using Daffodil Delight card stock, as well as the two flowers. The lily pads were cut from scrap piece of Blueberry Bushel card stock. I took my light Pumpkin Pie Blends pen and colored over the lines on the large ducks wing. I colored around the tiny ducks wing. And I added a dot to the center of the two flowers. Oh when I cut the ducks I saved the eyes and I used my dark Basic Black Blends pen to color them.
Now to add the cut pieces. I started with the lily pads. I used a little bit of glue on the center pad. Then I put some glue on the end of one set of cattails and slipped it under the lily pad. I repeated that for the other set of cattails. I added a little glue to a toothpick and glued down the other two lily pads.
The flowers were glued down next. I had glued the beaks on each duck and the wing of the large duck. For the smaller duck I added a small Dimensional to the back and set the wing in place on top of the exposed part of the Dimensional. Dimensionals were added to the large duck and it was set in place on the circle and the smaller duck was set in place just below and a little behind the larger duck.
The words are from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the banner die in the bundle. I snipped the left side to match the right side. Dimensionals were added and it was set in place on the front of the card.
A few pearls were added to the front of the card and the card was done. This card has a lot of pieces to it but it's SO worth it. Using what I had I think it turned out nice.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's masculine birthday card,
Wanda
