Adventurous Sky, Wildly Flowering, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on Pinterest. There was no link to how it was made. You can see the original card here. I went to the blog listed on the card but I couldn't find the card and I didn't want to spend a lot of time doing that. It's too bad people don't use direct links. Anyway, please read on to see how I put this card together.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock for the layer. I textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued that to the front of the card. The original card did not have this layer. I just thought the background needed something. I chose adding a layer because I don't like how the front of a card feels after you texture it. It's a lot thinner feeling and flimsy so I will texture a piece and glue or tape it in place. I like the looks of this.

Next I cut a 3" x 4" piece of Basic White for the back layer on the strips.

The strips were cut next. The Crumb Cake pieces measure 4" x 1" and 4" x 1/2".  I textured them with the same embossing folder. And the center strip is from a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Wildly Flowering" 12" x 12" package. It measures 4" x 7/8".  I taped the strips to the 3" x 4" Basic White layer piece. I taped the DSP piece and glued the textured pieces. It's just what I do. I feel that tape doesn't cover enough surface on textured pieces and it can come loose easier. Glue won't come loose, plus the glue gives me a few seconds to slide the piece into place better. I added the two outside pieces first and then the center one. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped using Early Espresso ink. I glued the right side of the word piece and added a Dimensional to the left side and set it in place on the front of the card and that was it. I didn't add any embellishments because I liked the look of it as it is. I think that's because of the textured background.

This was a fun, quick and simple card to make. I like this layout and I can see myself using it again.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

  1. I love all the texture from the embossing! Such a pretty combination of colors. Working with strips is a lot of fun and I really like that layout!
