The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Wild Wheat card stock for the layer. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" stack. I waited to do any taping because I needed to die cut from the Wild Wheat piece.
Next I cut another piece of DSP from the same package. The pieces each measure 2-7/8" x 1-1/4", you need three of these. The Wild Wheat layer behind them measures 3" x 1-3/8". I taped the layers together. Dimensionals were added to the back and were set aside.
Then came the fun die cut pieces. They are from the "Thoughtful Wishes" bundle. Garden Green was used for the large piece, Lost Lagoon for the flowers on stems and the leaves were cut from Pretty Peacock.
The words are from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle using Pretty Peacock on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them using the matching die in the bundle. I also took my 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Wild Wheat and cut the same shape from the middle of the piece. I taped the two pieces together so that about 1/4" of the Wild Wheat shows on the bottom. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.
Now we are ready to assemble. I taped the large piece of DSP to the Wild Wheat piece and that was then taped to the front of the card base.
Next the layered strips were set in place. I began with the bottom piece, I set it about 7/16" from the bottom and side edges of the card base. Next I set the top piece in place using the same measurements. The middle piece was added by using 7/16" from the side and eyeing the upper and lower part of the strip making them as equally apart as possible.
The die cut pieces were added next. I used a little glue to set these in place. First I added the large Old Olive piece. Next was the Lost Lagoon pieces. I did trim them down a bit because I didn't want the bottom of the stems sticking out. A little glue was added to the stems of the leaves on the Pretty Peacock pieces and they were tucked under the other two images.
The word piece was added next.
I didn't have the embellishments that were used on the original card but I did have some glass dew drops and I just glued them in place. I'm just trying to use what I have, which I believe is what you would do too if you didn't have all the pieces used here. Any demonstrator would be able to use current products in place of the retired or non-Stampin' Up! items used. I rarely use non-Stampin' Up! items but today I did with the dew drops.
I am pleased with the way the card turned out and I hope you have fun making yours.
Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
