Thoughtful Journey, Unbounded Love, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I had a friend over and we stamped. We were putting together some of our cards from Terri's wonderful Stamp-a-Stack. She has such fun and beautiful cards to make. Most of the time we put one of each of the cards in the packets together and take them home to finish them. That happens because we tend to chat more than we work on our cards. But that just means we can get together for a play date! I found this pretty card on Pinterest. You can see the original card here.   I did click through to the page where the card originated, I found that the measurements were in metric so I had to convert numbers. I am not sure I got it wrong but when I cut my strips they didn't fit on my Basic White piece. They were too wide. I didn't want to ruin the image, I wanted to keep the pieces so the look like they fit together (because they do). So what I ended up doing is cutting off the outer sides of the outside pieces. Please read on to see how I made the card.

The base of my card is Boho Blue. I tried the Balmy Blue but it didn't go as well with the blue in the sky, I think there was an error on the card base color. It looks like Boho Blue in their photo. The card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut two pieces of Basic White card stock that measured 4" x 5-1/4" each.  One for the outside and one for the inside. I taped one to the inside.

Next I cut the strips. I had cut them at 1-3/4" each but only kept the center one at 1-3/4" and the two outer ones were trimmed on the outside edges at 1/4" so they each measured 1-1/2".  I'm not great at card math so I have no idea what size to make the pieces so they are each equal. I have always struggled with strips on cards.

Once the strips were taped to the front of the car I stamped the words on. I used the
"Unbounded Love" set to stamp them. I stamped directly to the image. Oh, I forgot to mention that the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" stack. I tied a ribbon around the piece. Mine is retired because I didn't have what was used on the original card. I'm trying to use up what I have in my workroom. I have lots of stuff here!  LOTS!

The piece was then taped to the front of the card base. Some clear faceted gems were added to the front of the card (mine are retired) and the card was done.

Thank you for taking your time to stop in and see today's sympathy card,
Wanda

  2. I think splitting up a picture like that makes such a pretty card! Great paper for it, too.
