Simply Said, Thoughtful Wishes, Labeled With Love, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found here. You will have to hunt a bit for it, there's no direct link to a single card.  There were also no instructions so I had to wing it. I wanted to make this card because I loved the colors. This is the first time that I've liked the Wild Wheat color. When the new in-colors come out I usually buy a variety pack and I pick a couple of colors from it that I think I will use a lot of and order full packs of them. You guessed it, I did not order a full package of the Wild Wheat.  The colors have been out for over a year and I still have a couple of sheets of Wild Wheat left so the likelihood of me buying a full pack is slim to none.  There were no measurements for this card so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Wild Wheat card stock and taped it to the card base.

Then I cut a 4-5/8" x 3-3/8" piece of Wild Wheat card stock for the focal layer.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" package and was cut at 1-1/8" x 4-3/8". The two pieces on each side of the DSP are Pretty Peacock and were textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I taped the three panels in place on top of the Wild Wheat focal layer. I glued the two outside pieces first and then I taped the center piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was centered on the Wild Wheat piece on the card base.

I die cut some pieces from the "Thoughtful Wishes" bundle. I used Wild Wheat, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive and Basic White. I added a dot of glue to the center area of where I thought the pieces would line up. Then I pressed the pieces into the glue, the Wild Wheat and Lost Lagoon pieces.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink and then cut using the die from the "Labeled with Love" bundle. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.

Next I added a little bit of glue to the Old Olive leaves and slipped them in place under the other die cut items. I trimmed the Basic White one down added glue to the end and slipped them under the word piece so they were on top of the other die cut items.

A few glass drips were added and the card was done.

I changed mine a little from the original and I was pleased with how it turned out.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

  1. The Thoughtful Journey dsp is perfect to use with Wild Wheat card stock. Your card is lovely and the die cut pieces are a perfect addition!
