Adventurous Sky, Simply Said, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a masculine birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how the card was made.

I thought I'd try my hand at some strips of paper again. I tend to struggle with strips and I tend to have a lot of strips in my stash.  These strips are super easy, so easy that even I can't mess them up! LOL

I used the "Take to the Sky" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) for my strips. I cut them at 1" x 4" each.  Most of them were already 1" wide. I also cut a 4" x 4" piece of Copier Paper to tape my strips to. I like to do that so I get them straight and if they are a little off I can trim them up on the paper cutter and no one will be the wiser. I didn't have to trim anything today (shocker!).  

Once I got the strips on the copier paper, set the whole piece to the bottom of the card. I was going to add it to the top and have wording on the bottom but along the way my thoughts moved towards putting the strips at the bottom. I thought it looked good there but the top was too white. SO I cut a large Boho Blue circle using the largest stitched circle from the "Stylish Shapes" die set. I took it to my paper cutter and cut it in half. I added tape across the top of the DSP piece on the back and set the half circle in place. Then I taped the whole thing to the front of the card.

Next I cut the airplane using the dies in the "Adventurous Sky" bundle. For the body of the plane I used Blueberry Bushel card stock and for the wings I used Smoky Slate. The blades were cut using a scrap piece of Basic Black card stock. I glued the pieces together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the dies in the "Labeled With Love" bundle. You had a choice with that, you could get a punch or you could get the dies. The dies came with three of them. I thought it would be easier to store than the punch. The die pack fits right inside the stamp set. How convenient. I'd love for all of them to fit inside the sets. 

I used a scrap piece of Boho Blue and die cut a blank label piece. I cut it in half and taped each half to the back of the word piece. I set it in place on the front of the car using Dimensionals and the card was done.

This was a super quick and easy card to make, plus I was able to use some strips of DSP in my stash.
