Adventurous Sky, Perennial Postage, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I found a card on Pinterest and it inspired me to make one using a current package of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  You can see the original card here. I wasn't able to find any instructions or measurements so I had to wing it. I also wondered if the cards in the UK are not the same size as in the USA. I measured the fish and it didn't fit with the dies. I could not get three die cut postage stamp pieces across the card no matter how I tried. I had to use the smallest size.  Anyway, please read on to see how I made my card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Night of Navy card stock for the layer.

The DSP is from the "Take to the Sky" 12" x 12" package. I cut it at 3-1/8" x 4-3/8".

The postage stamp die is from the "Perennial Postage" set and I used the smallest square one in the set. I cut six Basic White pieces.

I cut the DSP pieces at 1-1/8" x 1-1/8" and taped them to the Basic White postage stamp pieces.

The postage stamped pieces were taped to the larger piece of DSP, making sure they touched each other and keeping them lined up. That part was a little difficult. I started on the left in case it got off a little I could hide that with the word piece but I was able to get them all on evenly. After all I had been through die cutting and trying to get the larger one to work I needed a break.

The words are from the "Adventurous Sky" bundle and were stamped using Versa Mark on a scrap piece of Night of Navy card stock. White embossing powder was used on the words. I used the die in the bundle to cut them out. It was pointed on one end but I just traced the back end shape and fussy cut it on the left end so it would look symmetrical. I set the words in place on the front of the card using small Dimensionals and the card was done.

I am happy with the way it turned out and now I know the measurements I may be using this layout again on a different card.

Thank you for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

  1. I love how you used the 6 small dies and put them close together. Love the choices for the die cuts. Great masculine card!
