Thoughtful Journey, Simply Said, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fun technique card to share with you that I've made before. It's the "Book Fold" technique and it's SO easy to do. You can do it with a portrait or landscape card layout. Today I used the landscape orientation. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. Once cut it measures 4-1/4" x 11". I scored it at 4-1/2", 5-1/2" and 6-1/2".  I folded it in half and then I glued the scored areas shut. I added glue between the 4-1/2" and  5-1/2" area and burnished it. I set it aside to set up. You could tape it but I find glue holds better when the card is opened a number of times.

Next came the front of the card. I cut a 4-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White card stock and I had textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. Now what I should have done was cut the circle first and then texture it because I lost some of the texture when I cut the circle.  For the circle I used the seventh circle in the "Deckled Circles" die set.

Then I die cut the inside layer. I had cut a piece of Petunia Pop card stock to measure 4-1/8" x 3-7/8". I used the eighth deckled circle die, I centered it as much as possible. I taped this piece to the back of the textured piece.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) came next. I took a 6" sheet from the "Thoughtful Journey" package and cut it in half so I could get two from one sheet if I wanted. I taped the piece to the back of the deckled layers and then trimmed off the excess on the top and bottom. I opted to do it this way so I could make sure I got the best part of the image as I was hovering over the piece.

Once the DSP was taped down I added Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place on the front of the card.

I thought that 1" strip off to the left side looked like it needed something so I cut a 3/4" x 4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the same "Distressed Tile" embossing folder.  I set that piece in place using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I used the smallest circle in the "Deckled Circles" die set and I used the second smallest for the Petunia Pop layer.  I taped the two layers together, Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.  And the card was done.

I love this book look and this new DSP is SO pretty, you can't make an ugly card with it!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,
Wanda

  1. Very pretty and I love the panels added with dimensionals. I love making the book binder style of cards and prefer the horizontal orientation.
