The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I had purchased the beautiful "Thoughtful Journey" 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP) stack. It seems that each stack that comes out is prettier than the one before it. I love using these images to make quick cards that end up being so pretty too. I cut my piece of DSP at 2" x 5". You can make three cards using one sheet of this DSP.
I thought Lost Lagoon looked best with this piece of DSP and I cut it at 2-1/4" x 5-1/4". I taped the two pieces together and then taped them to the front of the card about 1/4" from the bottom, fold and top.
The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock using Lost Lagoon ink. Then I cut them using the "Perennial Postage" die set.
I thought the word piece looked too blah against a white background, or part of a white background so I was looking through my dies to see what I had that I could use to layer it. I didn't want to measure the piece and just cut a plain rectangle layer. I found a fun layer in the "Countryside Corners" die set. I cut a piece of Lost Lagoon card stock and taped the words piece to it. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece as set in place on the front of the card.
And once again I was looking at the card thinking it was still a bit blah so I added a couple of brass butterflies from the "Brushed Brass Butterflies" package and now the card was done.
If I were to make another one using a Basic White card base like this I think I would cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and texture it. Then I'd cut the length of the DSP to 4-3/4" and the length of the Lost Lagoon layer to 5". So there's those measurements if you plan to go the textured layer way.
