Simply Zinnia, Submarine Life, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I found a super beautiful card on the internet that I just had to give a try to. I found the card here and of course, I did change it a bit. There were no measurements so I winged it. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold was on the left. 

I cut a 4" x 5-/4" piece of Basic White card stock for the layer. On top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece Pretty Peacock card stock and on top of that is a 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Basic White card stock that was colored using my brayer and Pretty Peacock ink. I sprayed it with water several times and used my heat tool to dry it between sprayings. 

Next I die cut the postage pieces using the largest square die in the "Perennial Postage" set. I cut three. Then I cut three squares using my paper cutter that measured 2" x 2". I taped the postage cut one to the 2' x 2" pieces. On top of that I cut some Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Unbound Beauty" 12" x 12" package. These measured 1-5/8" x 1-5/8" each. I taped this in place. 

Then I die cut the flowers from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle. Pretty in Pink card stock was used and then the tips were sponged with a little Pretty in Pink ink. The flower centers are Lemon Lolly, the ring around the flower center is Daffodil Delight and the leaves are Granny Apple Green. The flower has two dies so I cut three of each and glued them together at their centers. Then the center of the flower was glued on and the Daffodil Delight ring was glued in place. I set it aside for few minutes to set up.

In the meantime I took some linen thread and wrapped it around my fingers to form three sort of circles. The less the are perfect the better. Some tape was added to the top of the DSP and the thread was stuck in place. 

Dimensionals were added behind the flowers and the leaves were stuck to them. Then the piece was glued in place on top of the square.

The words are from the "Submarine Life" set, only because I didn't have any that fit that small space. I sued the die from the "Stylish Shapes" set to cut them out. I trimmed it on the left side. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

I took the flower squares and set the top one in place first, then the bottom one and the middle one was added last. You may want to practice where these pieces are going to go before taping them down just to make sure you can fit them all on the brayered piece. 

Once the flower pieces are in place on the front of the card, the words were added. 

I colored some pearls using my light Flirty Flamingo Blends pen. I didn't have any of the embellishments that were used on the original card. I have a ton of pearls and I believe they are retired now but I'll continue to use them because I have to! Once the pearls were set in place the card was done. 

Isn't this a pretty card? Can you see why I just had to make it? I thought it took a while because of all of the cutting and layers but it was SO worth it. I'm pleased with the way it turned out.
