Simply Zinnia, Best Family Ever, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. I did make some changes because I was using what I had and I made it work. I think it's great when you can find a card you like and have other items that help you make the card to your liking. Please read on to see how I made the card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Melon Mambo card stock for the layer. I stamped the flower from the "Simply Zinnia" set using Melon Mambo ink. I thought it looked pretty close to the Designer Series Paper (DSP) that was used on the original card. I made it work!

Next I cut the rectangle using the 5th die in the "Deckled Rectangles" die set on a piece of Basic White card stock. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card about 3/4" from the fold and the top of the card. I eyed it and got it close enough. Wherever you put it it will look great.

The flowers were die cut next. I cut two using Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral and one from Berry Burst card stock. The edges on the flowers were lightly sponged using Melon Mambo ink. The Calypso Coral piece is on the bottom, then the Berry Burst and Melon Mambo is on the top. I glued them together. I curled up the petals a little but I often wonder how flat they get in the mail.

The center of the flowers were cut the very center is from Pumpkin Pie card stock and the outer ring is from Daffodil Delight card stock. I glued those pieces in place.

The stem and leaves were cut using the same dies in the "Simply Zinnia" bundle on some Garden Green card stock. I glued the stem to the flower first. On the backside it goes up pretty far on the flower because the stem needed to hang beyond the rectangle about 3/8".

I glued the flower with the stem onto the rectangle and then the leaves were added, first the right one and then the left one on top of it.

The words are from the "Best Family Ever" set using Garden Green ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock.  I cut them using the ribbon die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. Dimensionals were added to the back. Where the "y" is in birthday I stacked two Dimensionals so it would stay level with the left part of the word piece,

I colored some pearls using my Melon Mambo Blends pen and set them in place on the front of the card. I also used a few uncolored pearls. The pearls were set in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

I made it work and I'm pleased with how it turned out.  What do you think?

Thank you for taking your time to stop in and see today's card,
Wanda
