Simply Said, Perennial Postage, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Have you ever CASEd the catalog?  I don't recall ever making a card that was displayed in the catalog but I could have my memory isn't like it used to be. Plus I make a card every day and I can't remember the ones I make. I will see a card on Pinterest that I really like and I click on it and it's one I made a while back. So much for recognizing my own work! Anyway, today I thought I would give a card from the catalog a try. I took a card from page 107. I did change it a bit. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Perennial Lavender 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card base. 

Next I die cut the flowers and leaves. I used Pretty in Pink ink and Pretty in Pink for the die cut flowers. I used Pool Party for the smaller bud die cut and Shaded Spruce for the leaved. I cut two of everything except for the stamped flowers, I only made one of those. I gathered all the stems and tied them in with a piece of white Baker's Twine. I did add some glue here and there to hold them all together because the twine won't keep them all in place for very long. 

While the glue was drying I stamped the words from the "Simply Said" set using Shaded Spruce ink. I cut them using the die from the "Perennial Postage" die set. And using that same die I cut a Moody Mauve piece for the back of the word piece. The original card used gold foil but I didn't want to use that plus I was making a birthday card and not an invitation card.

I cut a circle using the 7th die in the "Deckled Circles" set on a piece of Vellum. I added glue to the center of the Vellum and set it in place on the front of the card. 

The flower bunch was glued down next and the word piece was taped to the Moody Mauve piece and that was taped down on the front of the card, tucking it into the flowers a little.

And that was it, the card was done.

I am pleased with the way it turned out, even though it's a little different than the one in the catalog. I think I'll page through the catalog again sometime soon and find another one to CASE or change a bit! LOL
