Days to Remember, Dainty Delight"Bee Mine, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that has a fun layout. I found a card on Pinterest with the layout and thought I'd give it a try. You can see that card here. I changed it a lot because I wanted to use more of the "Bee Mine" Designer Series Paper (DSP) that will be retiring at the end of the month.  I still have quite a bit left because I don't make many Valentine's Day cards. I had to guess at the measurements because there was no link to the original card. Please read on to see how I made this card. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut two pieces of DSP from the "Bee Mine" 12" x 12" package at 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" and 5-1/4" x 2-3/4".  

For the flowered piece (5-1/4" x 2-1/4") I marked 3/4" from the top on the left side and 1-1/4" from the top on the right side. The bottom was marked at 1-1/4" from the right side. I cut the piece from the side marks to the bottom center mark. 

For the red piece (5-1/4" x 2-3/4") I marked 2" from the top on the left side and 1-3/4" from the top on the right side. The bottom mark is at 1-3/4" from the left side. Again I cut the pieces from the side marks to the bottom center mark.

The layer is a piece of  Lemon Lime Twist, a color that causes me to step outside of my comfort zone. It's now one of my favorite colors and I would bet that when it retires someday I will still be on my first package of it! I taped my DSP pieces to the card stock and took them to my paper trimmer and cut them about 1/8" from the sides and bottoms edges.  Then I taped the flowered one to the red one and that was taped to the front of the card.

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch. The scalloped layer is a scrap piece of the Lemon Lime Twist. I taped the two layers together, added Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place on the front of the card.

The die cut flower is from the "Dainty Delight" bundle and was cut using Poppy Parade card stock. And a scrap piece of Basic White card stock for the center. I used a dot of glue to hold the flower pieces together and another dot for the center of the flower. I added a small Dimensional to the back and set it in place on the front of the card

I thought the card needed something on the left side and once I stamped the little flower from the "Days to Remember" set I knew I didn't like it. It's Poppy Parade ink so it matched but it isn't the right place for it. In hindsight I think I should have cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it with one of the current embossing folders and used that to set the DSP pieces on. Perhaps I wouldn't have needed to add anything in that open are since the texture would take care of it.  The world may never know! LOL  I would recommend doing it that way unless you can come up with something better for that plain open area.

It was a fun card to make. I like the different cut layers, it's a nice change.
