Painted Lavender, Days to Remember, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a pretty card I found on Pinterest to share with you. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It was cut on the 8-1/2" side so once cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  The card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a piece of Highland Heather that measures 3-3/4" x 5".  A piece of Basic White was cut at 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" and was textured using the "Softly Sophisticated" embossing folder. I got it free from the "Sale-a-Brations" catalog.  I thought it was such a pretty folder. It's too bad that it will expire after the sale is done but for now I'm going to be using it a lot. I glued this piece to the Highland Heather layer. Dimensionals were added to the back and that was set in place on the front of the card.

I stamped the flowers from the "Painted Lavender" bundle using Gorgeous Grape ink. The stems were stamped using Old Olive ink. I used the matching dies to cut them out. I glued the stems to the flowers but I did trim the bottom part of the flowers off a bit because I wanted them to look more like they were attached. I made three sets.

Taking a piece of hemp that I had in my stash, I tied it around the stems a couple of times and then tied a knot and then a bow. I tried to tie a bow without the knot but it kept coming loose. I don't work with hemp that much so I am not sure if it was the texture of the hemp that wouldn't hold the bow. But tying the knot first and then the bow made it stay. Whatever it takes, right? After all that, I glued the flowers and stems to the front of the card.

Next were the words, they are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using Gorgeous Grape ink. I punched them out using the "Dual Oval" punch. Using that same punch I punched out a Gorgeous Grape scalloped oval piece. I taped the two pieces together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.  And that was it. I was going to add some bling but this card needs to go through the mail so I'm omitting it because I don't want to pay the extra postage.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
