The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock. After cutting it measured 4-1/4" x 11". It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Night of Navy card stock for the layer and on top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I did not tape the Very Vanilla piece to the Night of Navy piece but I did tape the Night of Navy piece to the card base.
On the vanilla piece I didn't tape down I taped the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Let's Go Fishing" 12" x 12" package. I had cut two pieces measuring 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". I marked one piece at 2" from the top on the left side and 2" from the bottom on the right side. I lined up the two pieces together and cut them both from one mark to the next on my paper cutter. I can now make two cards, one with fishes on the bottom and one with fishes on the top. I taped the DSP to the Very Vanilla piece.
Next I cut a 1/8" strip of Pecan Pie card stock and glued it on top of the DSP where the two designs meet. Then I snipped the ends. Now the piece is ready to tape to the front of the card.
I cut a 3-1/8" x 2-1/2" piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the oval words from the "Filled With Happiness" set using Night of Navy ink. I punched out a Pecan Pie oval using the new "Modern Oval" punch. I taped it to the center of the stamped oval image covering the bird and greens. The Very Vanilla piece was taped to a 3-1/4" x 2-3/8" piece of Pecan Pie card stock. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card.
Three fish were fussy cut, Dimensionals were added to the back of each one and they were set in place on the Pecan Pie oval. And the card was done.
I had fun making this card and I love the versatility of that oval stamp. I can't wait to use it with flowers and other die cuts. Look for that in the near future.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's masculine birthday card,
Wanda
I didn't order that paper, but you made a really great birthday card with it. Love it!
