Sparkling Snowflakes, Winter Meadow, Christmas Card, Stamping Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Do you ever feel like you're burning the candle at both ends this time of year?  I have a million things to do and all I want to do is go in my workroom and play with stamps. But no, there's all the usual things like cooking, cleaning, laundry PLUS the holiday stuff of baking, decorating, shopping, and wrapping gifts. I love going to my workroom each day to make a card. My workroom is a fun place to be in and I love spending as much time as I can in it.  But this time of the year I don't get to stay in it very long. I'm hoping to get done with some of the larger things hanging over my head so I can spend more time in here. I love making cards and I want to share how I made today's card with you.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Blueberry Bushel card stock. This is a color I don't use very often and I don't know why, it's so pretty. The card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White and taped it to the inside.

A 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Blueberry Bushel and textured using the "Distressed Tile". It was then glued to the front of the card.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Winter Meadow" 12" x 12" package. I cut a strip off the full sheet at 4" long. This way I can use it for layers.  From that 4" strip I cut that at 5-1/4".  And from that piece I cut off a 2-1/2" wide strip. Then I took that piece and cut a 1" piece off the side. I flipped it over and taped it to the left side while making the piece measure 3-1/4" x 2-1/2".  I took a piece of Basic White card stock that was cut just a hair smaller than 3-1/4" x 2-1/2" and taped it to the back of the DSP. I did this so the DSP had some support because it's too flimsy to tie Baker's Twine around it without it getting ruined. I tied the Baker's Twine on and made a bow.

The words are from the "Sparkling Snowflakes" set and were stamped using Blueberry Bushel ink. They were punched out using the "Double Oval" punch.  The scalloped oval was punched using the backside of the same DSP and the same punch. How convenient!  I taped the ovals together and I was ready to assemble the card.

There's not a lot to assemble here. I took the rectangle DSP piece, added Dimensionals behind it and set it in place on the front of the card. Then the oval was added using Dimensionals on the bottom and one on the upper area where it wouldn't be touching the DSP piece. I used a little bit of glue where it would be touching the DSP piece and the card was done.

It's a simple looking card but I really do like the colors here.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda

  1. What a pretty card! I love the watercolor-look of the paper. Yes, it's a busy time of year, for sure!! It feels good to pretty much be ready for Christmas now, though. And I've even had a little time to play! :-)

  2. The center focal point area is BEAUTIFUL......
But the embossed front panel SERIOUSLY makes this card.
