Christmas Classics, Grassy Grove, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a little bit of the past mixed with a little bit of the present to create my card. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was cut and then textured using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the card base.

Next I used my "Grassy Grove" bundle to make the focal piece. Using the "Layering Circles" die set I die cut the ring first. I used the 2-7/16" circle and the 2-1/8" circle. I had gotten a printed image of the size of the rings a while back. I did a little bit of searching and you can find the printout here.  If you are counting the circles I used the 3rd and 4th largest in the set. I lined up the two circles on a piece of Basic White card stock, making sure they looked even all around and I die cut them at the same time. I like to use Post-it tape for that. I no longer have Washi tape so I got the post it kind and it does the job in holding pieces in place when going through the Big Shot. After die cutting the ring I took the larger of the two dies and cut one from Basic White card stock. 

That circle was colored using my Blending Brush. I started out using a little bit of Bubble Bath to add some pink to the sky. Then I scrubbed on some Balmy Blue ink. 

The tree was stamped next using the image from the "Grassy Grove" bundle using Night of Navy ink. The snow on the circle was made by taking a Scotch Bright Stainless Steel scrubber. I cut off a piece of it and shook it over the garbage to get any tiny bits of metal off. I like to add a rubber band around it to hold it together. I poured a little paint on a flat surface and tapped the scrubber on it. I tapped it on some scrap paper to make sure I don't get blobs of paint and then I tapped it on my colored circle. I used a pearl colored acrylic paint to give the snow a bit of a shine but white will work too. Once that was dry I added small Dimensionals to the ring and set it in place over the solid circle. 

The deer was die cut from the "Grassy Grove" bundle using Basic White cards stock. Small Dimensionals were added to the body of the deer and it was set in place on the painted circle. Make sure the legs hang over the circle a little or they will sink in behind the circle and won't look nice. That circle was then set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.

Night of Navy ink was used to stamp the words from the "Christmas Classics" set on a piece of Basic White card stock. I used the smaller of the two dies to cut it out. Dimensionals were added to the back. The piece was set in place and the card was done.

It's got such a peaceful look to it. I used this same image on a card last December. You can see that card by clicking here.  

I just love the peaceful look of this card. And the "Grassy Grove" set was a fun one to play with. It worked well in making masculine, sympathy, and Christmas cards.
