The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Mossy Meadow card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and taped it to the inside of the card.
Then I cut a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I took my Versa Mark pad and taped it in a few places on top of the texture. I didn't press hard because I only wanted it to get on the raised part of the texture. I sprinkled gold embossing powder over it. I didn't like how it looked like sharp right angles from the ink pad so I took a stiff paint brush (stippling brush) and removed some of the powder so the sharp lines were not so noticeable. Then I heat set the powder.
A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of gold foil card stock was cut. Before gluing it to the embossed piece I cut out two holly leaves from the center. Then that piece was taped to the front of the card.
Next I die cut the Mossy Meadow strip with the holly and berries on it.
The words are from the same "Christmas Classics" bundle and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I die cut it with the rectangle die in the set and then taped it to the Mossy Meadow piece. I added Dimensionals behind the piece and set it in place a little above center on the front of the card.
I took a scrap piece of gold foil card stock and cut out a loopy leaf image. The holly leaves and the loopy leaf piece was set in place under the word piece. I used a little bit of glue on the stems of each leaf and pressed it in place until I knew the glue took hold
For the berries I took some pearls and colored them using my dark Real Red Blends Pen. I set them in place on each of the berry stems and the card was done.
I really like how today's card turned out. I think I'm going to send it to my mom. I don't usually send out cards with embellishments on them because of the extra cost, but it's for mom so!
I am not a big fan of heat embossing and I have never figured out why. I love the way it looks but I just hate to do it. Is it because I have to get out the powder and the ink pad or is it the heating of it because it's not instantly hot and it takes a little while (very little while) for it to heat up to melt the powder? I don't know but as I look at how pretty this is I think I need to embrace the issue and learn to move forward! Therapy session over! LOL
Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda
Your mother will love this card. I love all of the details.....especially that embossing folder and the focal point you created.
