The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pecan Pie card stock for the layer. On top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White card stock that was textured using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued the Basic White piece to the Pecan Pie piece and set it aside.
Next I cut random strips of Crushed Curry, Pecan Pie, and Lemon Lime Twist card stock and glued them to a piece of Window Sheet. I placed toothpicks between the strips to keep the space even. It worked most of the time! I think it's better to just eye it and save yourself some time! Oh and glue oozed out and the toothpick briefly got stuck to the piece. That was fun! LOL Once the strips were glued down I took the die from the "Nested Essentials" set and cut my rectangle. I set that in place on the center of the textured Basic White piece using Dimensionals.
The cute turtle is from the "Playing in the Rain" set. I stamped him using black Memento ink and I colored him in using both light and dark Daffodil Delight, light Pecan Pie, light Old Olive, and light Lemon Lime Twist Blends pens. Once it was colored I fussy cut it. I set it aside.
I stamped the words from the "Days to Remember" set using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch. I also used the same punch for the scalloped oval with Lemon Lime Twist card stock. I taped the ovals together.
Now I was ready to assemble the card. I was hoping that if there was a way I could creatively assemble the pieces, those strips might look better. I did have high hopes! I added the turtle using both Dimensionals (on the left) and glue on the part that touches the strips. I added the word piece the same way. And nope, it didn't help the piece at all. Dimensionals were added to the back of the Pecan Pie piece and that mess was set on top of the card base. And the card was done. It's not what I had hoped for nor even imagined. But as always, I share the good, the bad, and the ugly with you!
Thank you so very much for stopping in today,
