Layering Leaves, Countryside Inn, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fun card to share with you. I have heard it called a "two for one" card but it's really not. You still need the same amount of materials for two cards.  You can just make two of the same cards depending on the orientation of your Designer Series Paper (DSP). Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a half-sheet of Night of Navy card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

The first thing I did was cut two pieces of Basic White card stock for the inside of both cards. I did make two of the same images. The inside piece measures 4" x 5-1/4".  I also cut two pieces of copier paper to measure 4" x 5-1/4" but I cut them just a hair shorter of those measurements because I didn't want to have to trim off any edges. I did this because I wanted to add the strip of DSP across the middle and I wouldn't have any way to do that and still trim the corners. 

I took two pieces of DSP from the "Countryside Inn" 12" x 12" package and cut it in half along the diagonal. I flipped the second piece over and cut it along the diagonal as well. Now I have four pieces, two for each card. Because the orientation of my DSP doesn't matter (there's no words or figures that need to be facing a certain way). I taped the DSP to the copier paper. Don't be too concerned if you see a little bit of copier paper showing through the center area. You just want to make sure you don't see any on the edges.  Once the DSP was taped in place I cut two strips of Bubble Bath card stock at 1/4" wide and mine were 5-1/4" long because that was the size of the card stock that I had sitting on my cutting area. I cut the pieces in half. Then I glued them to the center diagonal of both card fronts. I glued them from the corner to the center. They do not meet up in the center but that's okay because the words are going to hide them. Once the strips were in place I snipped the corners. Then the piece was taped to the front of the card base.

The words are from the "Layering Leaves" set and were stamped using Night of Navy ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I die cut them using the 1-7/8" circle die from the "Layering Dies" set. Then I took the 2-9/16" scalloped circle die and cut two from a piece of Bubble Bath card stock. I taped the word piece to the scalloped piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the center of the card.  And the card was done.

This is a fun way to make two quick card. Thinking ahead to Christmas, this might be a super quick way to whip out a few Christmas cards!! But it is a quick way to use up some DSP!!
