Two-Tone Flora, Lasting Joy, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello! I'm glad you stopped in to see today's card. I found it on Pinterest and of course made a few minor changes. You can see the original card here.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and die cut it using the floral background die from the "Two-Tone Flora" bundle. I found this piece a bit difficult to work with because I wanted to have a layer show around the edges as in the original card but the only way to do that is to make the card base larger. It won't fit in the envelope so I just had to try to figure out how to make this work. I ended up attaching the die cut piece to a piece of Gray Granite card stock and trimming the edges to they didn't show. And I didn't do a good job at that.  UGH.  

Next I stamped a lot of flowers and leaves. I used Berry Burst ink to make the pink flowers and  Gray Granitefor the other flowers. The leaves were all stamped using Granny Apple Green ink. 

The words are from the "Lasting Joy" set and were stamped using Berry Burst ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I punched it out using the "Double Oval" punch. And the oval scallop behind the word piece was punched from the same "Double Oval" punch. I taped the words to the scalloped oval.

Now I was ready to assemble. I followed the picture of the card on Pinterest for the layout, added the larger Gray Granite flower first with a little bit of glue mostly in the center area. Then I slipped the top little Berry Burst flower above it. The leaves to the right went on next. I set the large Berry Burst flower in place using Dimensionals but I didn't press it down firmly, I needed to be able to lift it if necessary. I slipped the leave on a branch under the large Berry Burst flower and then the Berry Burst cluster of four were set in place next. To the left of the larger Berry Burst flower is a cluster of four Gray Granite flowers and that was glued on next. Below that is another branch of leaves that was slipped under the large Berry Burst flower. The second cluster of four Berry Burst flowers was added and then the double leaves were set in place. The other double leaves were slid under the large Gray Granite flower and the cluster of four Berry Burst flowers.  There, that wasn't so bad now was it?  It sounds worse than it is. You really can't go wrong assembling the card. Just make it pretty!

I added Dimensionals to the back of the oval piece and set it in place on the lower part of the card. The small Berry Burst flower was added using a little bit of glue and a small Dimensional.  And the card was done. 

In spite of the difficulty I had with the background piece I am pleased with the card. This could be a wonderful wedding or anniversary card, a thinking of you or get well card too. It's very versatile.
