This is one of my favorite layouts. I did change it a little because I needed the opening wider than the usual 1-1/4" that I usually do. And I usually use the 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" circle punches but here I used die cuts from the "Layering Circles" die set.
The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the inside.
Next I cut a 3-1/2" x 4-5/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the layer on top of the Basic Black card base.
Next I cut a piece of Granny Apple Green card stock that measured 3" x 4-1/8" and the top piece of DSP is from the "Stargazing" package. I took some repositionable tape and taped the two pieces together in the area where I was going to die cut the hole. I used the 1-3/8" circle die to cut the two pieces together. Then I took 1-5/8" die and lined it up over the circle on the DSP. The circle die makes an indentation on the DSP which makes it easier to line up the next circle. I taped the circles down using some post it tape. Once the circles were die cut I taped the two pieces together.
The frog is from the "Zoo Crew" DSP package and was cut out at about 2" x 2". I added Dimensionals around the backside of the circle on the Granny Apple Green piece and hovered over the frog to get what I wanted to appear in the circle. Then I pressed it down to set the frog in place. I turned the piece over and added more Dimensionals around the outer edges. I used some snail over the area where the frog is and I set the piece in place on top of the Basic White piece. Then that was taped to the Basic Black card base.
The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch. The Basic Black scalloped oval was also made from the same punch. I taped the two ovals together and set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. And the card was done.
This was such a fun and easy card to make. I have always loved using this layout. It can make small images a focal point. I think it turned out well and I would love to make more. I will have to purchase this DSP because samples don't have all of the adorable characters on them. Adding that to my growing wish list! LOL
Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
