Best Day, Framed Florets, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Welcome! I'm happy you are here today to see my creations. Today's creation kind of has a gag factor to it. I'm not fond of the colors I chose but it is what it is.  I'm sure a kid wouldn't care what the colors are, they are bright and there'd probably be money inside!!! LOL So I'm hoping you'll pick better colors for your cake! But I will share with you how I made mine so we don't make that mistake gain!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Pear Pizzazz. My card was cut in half on the short side of the sheet so once it was cut it measured 1/4" x 11".  The fold is on the top and the card opens at the bottom.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Whit for the outside and one for the inside. I taped the inside piece in place so I wouldn't lose it or get it dirty. Plus once the front is done the card is all done!

Next I cut a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock for the layer to go on top of the Basic White piece. And a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper from the 6" x 6" "Subtles" stack. I taped the three pieces together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card base.

Next I die cut the oval. Which could have been cut from the Pear Pizzazz layer but I had a scrap piece I wanted to use up so I didn't cut corners that way.  And I also die cut a Basic White oval. The oval is from the "Framed Florets" bundle. I placed the white oval inside the Pear Pizzazz frame and taped them together using some scotch tape. Then I decided I wanted it a bit stronger so I traced the oval onto a scrap piece of card stock and then taped the ovals to it. Now it was nice and stable. I could have avoided the scotch tape doing this in the first place.  Dimenisonals were added to the back of the ovals piece and it was set in place on the front of the card.

I stamped the cake from the "Best Day" set using Black Memento ink on Basic White card stock. The piece was fussy cut out and then colored using markers. I should have used my Blends pens, I would probably have gotten nicer looking colors but I didn't.  I used So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz.  Once thing I can say is, it's colorful!! Dimensionals were added to the back of the card and it was set in place on the oval and the card was done. I may go back and add some Wink of Stella because I feel the poor thing could use a little bling!

It's not one of my better works! I'm still working with this image and obviously I'm struggling with it. There's not a lot of cards on the internet to get ideas from either.  Wait till they see this one!!! LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

The colors are just fine! I love your card. I have a friend whose favorite color is green and it would be a great card for someone with a birthday on or around St. Patrick's Day. I don't think about using those packs of dsp for backgrounds and I have a bunch of them.

When a cake looks good enough to eat, it's a good cake. I want to eat this cake!
