Adorable Owls, Sentimental Park, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello there! I'm happy to see you here. I have an adorable card I found in my email that I just had to make. I think it's the colors of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) that drew me to this card. I did make a few little changes. You can see the original card here

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Fresh Freesia. I'm running low on that color but it's going to retire in a few months so I am not going to reorder and I'm going to try hard to use up what I have.  That would be a first!!!  This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Petal Pink was cut for the layer and the DSP is from the "Dandy Designs" 12" x 12" package and it was cut at 3-3/4" x 5".  Before taping the layers together I die cut the scalloped circle from the center of the Petal Pink piece first. I used the second largest scalloped circle in the "Layering Circles" die set.

The strip of DSP is from the same package and is cut at 3-3/4" x 2".

The stitched circle was die cut using the second largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" die set using a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I used the Blending Brush and scrubbed on some Fresh Freesia ink.

The owl was stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I colored it in using my Blends Pens. I used Petal pink for the face and belly. Light Soft Suede for the body. Light Pumpkin Pie for the beak and feet. Light Balmy Blue for the eyes. And I used my Blender Pen and Fresh Freesia ink pad for the bow tie. I didn't buy the in-colors Blends Pens so I used the ink pad instead. The owl was then fussy cut and Dimensionals were added to the back.

The words are from the "Sentimental Park" set and were stamped using Fresh Freesia ink. I cut them on the paper cutter but didn't do that great of a job. I'm so spoiled by using dies and punches.  But it is what it is and if you don't look too close you won't notice it! I added Dimensionals behind the word pieces.

Now to assemble the card I taped the Petal Pink to the card base and then the DSP on top of that. The strip of DSP was added next.

I taped the two circles together and added Dimensionals to the back. Then I set that in place on the front of the card. The owl was placed in the center and the words were added to the two corners.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was added to the inside and the card was done.

Isn't it pretty?  I think you will agree that it's the colors that are drawing you to the card!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,
Wanda

  3. I wish I was better at fussy cutting! You did a great job with it. Maybe one of these days I will figure out my Scan n Cut and let it do the work for me as I seem to have toes on my hands when it comes to fussy cutting. ~chris
