Hues of Happiness, World Cardmaking Day, Stampin' Up! 2022-2021 Catalog

Sad to say I did not get to play along with Terri Gaines yesterday on "World Cardmaking Day" I had chores to do and you know if you don't get your chores done you don't get to play. But I got my chores done early enough today that I had time to watch the video and play along. Terri had set her customers packets of card stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP) to play along. I didn't have the stamp set she used so I used a flower image I had on my shelf. Here is a link to Terri's video on how to make this card and two others. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. The front was cut off at 2-1/2" leaving 3" on the left side.

The DSP is new to me, it was in the kit that was mailed to me. It's called "Perfectly Penciled" DSP. There's penciled flowers on the backsides of what you see here.  Terri had us cut the dotted piece at 1" and it was already cut at 2" x 4". That strip was taped to the left of the card and then the lined piece that was also cut at 2" x 4" was taped on next. 

She had stamped a flower but I didn't have the set she used so I used a flower from the "Hues of Happiness" DSP. I die cut it and die cut the leaves to go with it. Terri did give a nice tip, she had colored her stamped image in using Blends pens and they bleed through the back of the card stock. So she die cut a Basic Black piece and taped the stamped piece on top. So that is what I did here, I die cut the flower and then I die cut a Basic Black piece. I did mine that way more for the stability because the DSP is a lot thinner than card stock. I taped the flower to the Basic Black flower shape and the piece was set in place using Dimensionals. Make sure you don't get the Dimensional on the inside of the card. What I do is I set my image where I want it and I hold it in place while I run my fingernail lightly along the edge of the card behind the image. It leaves a light line that I can see and know not to cross over with Dimensionals or tape. Nothing like taping your card shut! And yes, I've done that before, once or twice. LOL

So once the flower was set in place, I added the leaves. Then a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was added to the inside and the card was done.

It was fun and quick but I'm still sad I wasn't able to play along yesterday. But better late than never. I'm not sure how I'm going to decorate the other two cards in the kit but I'll figure out something as the week goes on.
