Santa's Delivery, Penguin Place, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

This is one of my favorite layouts.  It is perfect for highlighting those tinier stamped images. This little penguin is from the "Santa's Delivery" set and here's how I made this card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Garden Green card stock. I cut the sheet in half on the shorter 8-1/2" side at 4-1/4" so when I was done cutting it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  I scored it at 5-1/2" and folded it on the score line. This card opens at the bottom and the fold is at the top.

The Basic White layer on top of the Garden Green card base measures 3-1/2" x 4-5/8". I taped that to the front of the card.

Next I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Santa Express" 12" x 12" package. It was cut at 2-7/8" x 4".  And the Pear Pizzazz layer behind it was cut at 3" x 4-1/8".

I took some removable tape and added a little bit where I thought the circle would be cut. I lined up the DSP on the card stock so it was even all around. Then I took the 1-1/4" circle punch (retired) and let the piece drop all the way to the bottom. I also lined up the sides (eyed it) so it looked equal on each side and I punched the circle.

Then I set the cardstock piece aside and put a scrap piece of copier paper behind the DSP and punched a ring using the 1-3/8" circle punch (retired). If you don't have these punches, you can use the circle dies. Some of them are a little larger and you can use a little bit larger image in it.  I may try that with some of the images I have that won't fit in this 1-1/4" circle area.  Anyway, I then taped the DSP to the Pear Pizzazz piece and set it aside.

I took a scrap piece of Basic White card stock, this piece needs to be at least 2" x 2", and I stamped the penguin from the "Santa's Delivery" set using black Memento ink. I colored it in with markers. I used Basic Gray for the body, Pumpkin Pie for the feet and beak, and Blushing Bride for the tongue.

I also stamped the penguin on a piece of post it paper so I could make a mask. I set the mask over the colored penguin and with my Blending Brush, I scrubbed in some Pear Pizzazz ink.  I removed the mask (and saved it in the case for future use) and I added Dimensionals around the back of the circle on the Pear Pizzazz side. I affixed the penguin. Then I added more Dimensionals around the back on the Pear Pizzazz piece plus some tape to the back of the 2" x 2" piece and I set it in place on top of the large Basic White piece.

The words are from the "Penguin Place" set and were stamped using Poppy Parade ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch. I also punched out the Garden Green scalloped oval from the same punch. I taped the words to the scalloped piece and I set it in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was added to the inside of the card and the card was done.

This was such a fun card to make and like I said, I love this layout. It's fun, quick, and easy to do! Plus you get to use those little images in your sets!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda
