Hippest Hippos, Get Well Card, Stampin' Up!

A friend of mine had surgery last week and I thought it was about time to get a card to her. She should hopefully be alert enough now to enjoy some reading and tv. I know it was difficult for me to concentrate for a few days after surgery. It's like the grogginess needed time to leave. So today I'm making her a card to go with her gift.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left

I die cut the scalloped layer using a die from the "Color & Contour" bundle. I added Dimensionals to the back and set it aside.

I cut a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of Real Red card stock and textured it with a retired flower embossing folder. I was going to use the "Pretty Flowers" one but I grabbed the wrong folder.  It's still pretty, a bit busier than I wanted but it's done and I'm using it. I taped this piece to the scalloped rectangle piece.

Next I die cut the second largest stitched circle in the "Stylish Shapes" die set. I used my Blending Brush and Granny Apple Green ink and scrubbed it on the circle. I added Dimensionals behind it and set it aside.

Then I stamped the hippo from the "Hippest Hippos" set using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I die cut it with the matching die. And I colored it in using my Blender pens. I used light Smoky Slate, light Gray Granite, dark Granny Apple Green, dark Balmy Blue, dark Real Red, and light Flirty Flamingo. I should have waited a few minutes for the alcohol to evaporate a bit before I colored the Real Red on the flower. I added Dimensionals behind the hippo and set it aside.

The words were done on my computer. I searched all my current sets to find some get well words in a straight line but had no luck, so I just decided to print them out myself. I used "Comic Sans" 18pt font for them and printed them in black. I trimmed them on my paper cutter to measure 1/2" x 2-3/8". I added Dimensionals to the back.

To assemble the card, I affixed the scalloped rectangle in place first, then the Real Red textured piece on top of that.  Then the circle was set in place with the words and moved around a bit until I thought it looked good. Then I affixed them in place. And the last thing to affix in place is the hippo on the center of the circle.  And that was it. The card was done. This is a very quick and easy card to make.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's get well card,
Wanda
