I took a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock for the base. Then I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Smoky Slate for the layer. And the focal piece measured 3-3/4" x 5".
I stamped the image from the "Catch You Later" set using black Memento ink. I was all set to color the image in using Blends pens but when I practiced on a piece of scrap card stock, I found the colors to be too dark. So I was going to use my Blender pen and ink pads. I ended up using the "Watercolor Pencils" and my Blender pen.
I colored the cat in using the Basic Gray watercolor pencil. Then I colored over some areas with the Basic Black watercolor pencil. The water in the fish bowl was colored in using the Balmy Blue watercolor pencil. I colored over the cat color on the bottom left.
The goldfish was colored in using the Pumpkin Pie watercolor pencil and I took my Blender pen and colored right on the pencil to pick up a bit more color for the highlights.
The background was colored in with the Balmy Blue watercolor pencil and after using the Blender pen over it, I colored it in using my blending brush and some Balmy Blue ink. I used a piece of scrap copier paper on the sides to give the color and edge and I also had made a mask for the cat and fish image so I wouldn't get any ink on them.
The shadow/surface below the cat and fish was created by using the Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler, and Early Espresso watercolor pencils.
My colors are a bit different than on the original card but I think this worked out just fine. I like how the colors worked here an it looks just fine to me!
