Stitched Snowflakes. Wintry 3D Embossing Folder, Banner Year, Christmas Card

You say you want a quick, easy, simple yet elegant looking Christmas card.  Well, here it is.

I really like the snowflakes in the "Wintery 3D" embossing folder package. The other design is pine needles.  But I like snow and this is SO pretty.  I would rather have had it a full size embossing folder but I guess that makes me try to see the challenge.  So here's what I did with that folder today.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was cut for the top piece. I used a corner rounder to round the corners. I set this piece face down on my scoring board and I scored the left side at 3/4" down from the top and 5/8" in on the left side. I scored down to 4-5/8".  I turned the piece and scored from the left score line I just made to the 2" mark. This area is not 2" wide, I just scored to the 2" mark. Then I turned the piece again and scored down the right side. And then the bottom was scored.  

I embossed a piece of Basic White card stock using the "Wintry 3D folder.  I cut it at 1-1/4" x 4".  After setting the piece inside the scored area I could see that I needed to trim one end of the strip. It's better to have it too long at this point than too short. I probably trimmed about 1/16" off. I glued the strip in place. I prefer to glue textured pieces over taping them for two reasons.  One the surface is not smooth anymore and two, I don't want to crush the texture. Then I added Dimensionals to the back of the piece and set it in place using Dimensionals. 

I die cut a snowflake from the "Stitched Snowflakes" dies and set it in place using a small Dimensional. A single crystal rhinestone was added to the center.

The words are from the "Banner Year" set and were stamped using Pool Party ink. I stamped them on a 3/8" x 2-3/8" piece of Basic White card stock.  I trimmed the ends and set it in place with small Dimensionals.  And that was it.

This was s very fun, quick and easy card to make. I love using this layout too. It frames in the panel nicely, whether you are using textured card stock or Designer Series Paper (DSP).
