Penguin Place, Penguin Playmates, Christmas Card, Book Binding Card Technique,

I am upright and back at my worktable, but only for a little while as I am still tired and achy. I'd say crabby but I'm kind of crabby anyway so who could tell if it's from the vaccine or just a typical day!!! LOL I am definitely not a morning person!!! LOL

So onto today's card. The base of my card is a half a sheet of Garden Green card stock. It was cut in half on the 8-1/2" side. It measured 4-1/4" x 11" after cutting.

The piece was scored at 4-1/4" and 5-1/2".  I glued the space between the 4-1/4" score and the 5-1/2" score. If you are going to add a ribbon you will want to wait to glue it shut. And I do recommend glue because it will hold better, especially with a ribbon running through it.

The strip on the left is Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Penguin Playmates" 12" x 12" package. I cut it at 4" x 1" and I taped it in place.

The DSP on the other side was cut at 4" x 4" and taped in place. I also cut a 4" x 4" piece of Basic White for the inside of the card. I taped that in place too.

I cut a 3" x 3" piece of Garden Green card stock and a 2-7/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the focal panel.  I stamped little snowflakes on the Basic White piece. I used Soft Succulent ink that was stamped off once.  Yup, green snowflakes!  You can hardly tell it's green, it's got a tinge of blue to it.

The penguin was punched out and the beak was stamped using Pumpkin Pie ink. The eyes were stamped using Basic Black ink. I think the eyes stamp has the eyes just a little bit too far apart.  I never seem to get the second one in the center of the area like I do the first one. I think next time I make one I'll just ink up one eye dot and go from there.

The feet were stamped using Pumpkin Pie ink on Pumpkin Pie card stock and punched out. I glued them in place.

I stamped the hat using Fresh Freesia ink and I fussy cut it out.

The words are from the "Penguin Place" set and were stamped using Garden Green ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch and I also punched a Garden Green scalloped oval from the same punch. I taped the two ovals together.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the focal panel and set in place on the front of the card. I did move the panel up a bit so the words would fit in better. The penguin was then set in place using Dimensionals and the hat was taped to the DSP.

I added two small Dimensionals to the bottom of the oval and tape to the top part and I set it in place at the bottom of the focal piece.

A bow was tied and glued to the left side. I preferred a bow instead of a ribbon running because my ribbon was a bit too wide for that space. I used a clothespin to hold the ribbon in place.

I added a few rhinestones to the front and the card was done.

This technique is very fun to do and easy too. I like the looks of it too, it's not complicated. There's some fun techniques out there but I often wonder if the one who receives the card knows how to open it so it can be displayed (without sending them directions on how to open their card!).

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Christmas card, I'm off to take my 4th nap for the day!
