Color & Contour, Thanksgiving Card, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

In my quest to make my stamp sets more versatile, I ran across the "Color & Contour" set and figured I could make the flowers in it have more of a fall look.  They kind of look like an Aster, right?  See  I do know a few flower names.  Though I don't know if I've purchased any for my garden on purpose. If I did buy them it was because they were pretty and that's it!!  Anyway, here's what I ended up with.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Cajun Craze card stock. This card opens at the bottom and the fold is at the top.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. One for the inside and one for the outside.

I looked through my stamp sets and I didn't find any current ones that had a "Happy Thanksgiving" in them. So I took a piece of Basic White card stock and opened up my word processor and typed the words. I used the "Lucida Calligraphy" fond. I italicized it and bolded it. The font size is 22 pts.  I often forget that I can just pop in a piece of Basic White card stock and type up my own personal wording.  But most of the time the stamp sets have what I need or want.  I printed out the words on a piece of Basic White card stock.  I had set my page to two columns, I duplicated the words 5 times and printed them out at best quality.  I cut the card stock in half on the short side and used the empty piece to cut the front and inside pieces.

I die cut the words using the die "Scalloped Contours" set that was part of the "Color & Contour" bundle but can be purchased separately.  After cutting the piece I realized this die has an open slit on the top and bottom. I need to learn to use that more but what I did was I Scotch taped the back side so it stayed together.  Then I set it on top of the front piece so I could see where I wanted to stamp my flowers.

Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry inks were used to stamp the flowers. The Crushed Curry one was the only one to be die cut out so it was stamped on a scrap piece of card stock.

I stamped the leaves using Mossy Meadow ink for the outline and I colored them in using the light Mossy Meadow Blends pen. Then the dots were added. I used Mossy Meadow ink stamped off once (second generation) for the Basic White piece and a third generation was stamped on the word piece. I wanted those dots to be even lighter.

I was now ready to assemble the card. I taped the other piece of Basic White card stock on the inside of the card.  Then I taped the stamped one on top of the card front. Dimensionals were added to the word piece, making sure I was able to get the Dimensional to cross over the cut line a little for more support.

Then I set the upper left flower in place using a couple of Dimensionals on the top part and snail tape on the bottom part.

I had stamped a Cajun Craze flower at the bottom right and didn't like it so I stamped one using Pumpkin Pie ink and I die cut it and taped it over the Cajun Craze one. A little bit of the Cajun Craze shows if you look hard enough. And I liked the look SO much better.

This was a very fun and easy card to make and it's now a fall set too!!!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Thanksgiving card,
Wanda
