Bright Baubles, Christmas Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Holiday Occasions Catalog

Have you ever bought a stamp set just because you saw one card you just absolutely loved and had to make?  Well, that's what happened to me with the "Bright Baubles" set. I ordered the set. I waited anxiously for it to arrive and then I made that one card that I just had to try.  Then what? I did find another one and perhaps a third one and that was about it.  UGH!  Today I ran across this one on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. I do like the set but have regrets because it's a bit difficult to work with. Sometimes there's stamp sets in the past that you can find images to recreate the card with current stamps but this one didn't really have any out there to work from.  So I'm at the mercy of my brain to figure out some way to use this set and when I run across one on Pinterest, I jump at the chance to make it.

So here's how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red and taped it to the front of the card base. 

A 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic White card stock was cut and then the center was die cut using the die that cut the solid piece. I saved the piece that was cut out so I could use it for the detailed piece. I did take that piece and used a double sided sticky sheet so I could make it into a sticker. I do not like gluing pieces like that with so much detail. But it can be done by placing some glue on a piece of waxed paper (I save the backing sheet from my Dimensionals), then I put some glue on it and fold it over but don't crease the fold, I'm just trying to get the glue to go evenly all over the piece. Then I set my die cut piece on top and press down with another piece of waxed paper, copier paper, paper towel or anything that won't stick quickly to the design where the glue oozed out.  And it's now ready to set in place.   So before all that happened, I textured the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece using the "Painted Texture" embossing folder. I glued that on top of the Real Red piece.

Then the bulb piece was die cut and added. I set a scrap piece of copier paper on top and placed a punch on top while I die cut the ribbon piece. I used gold foil card stock to do that. I did not use the double-sided sticky sheet for that. I forgot and I wasn't going to cut another one, so I just did the glue on the non-stick paper trick and I set it in place. Just before I added the glue, I set it on the top of the card to see where I needed to trim off that long hanger. It was still a little bit long after gluing it in place so before the glue totally set, I lifted it up just a bit and snipped off the excess.  And that was it. No need to stamp, the words are already on the card.  How great is that? 

This was a very quick and easy card to make. I like the look of it, the Real Red makes that white bulb just pop.
