Bright Baubles, Christmas Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

I had bought the "Bright Baubles" bundle because I saw one card I wanted to make. Talk about impulse shopping!!!  Today I found this card and I tried my best to copy it. I didn't have the same Designer Series Paper (DSP) but I did manage to make it work. You can see the original card here.  There are no measurements through the link so this is how I made the card.

I also had to change the base of the card because I am running low on Pool Party card stock. The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut the full sheet on the short 8-1/2" side so when I was done cutting the piece measured 4-1/4" x 11".  Then I folded it in half.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Pool Party card stock for the layer. Before taping it down I had die cut the bulb from the center using the "Bright Baubles" bundle. The dies are called "Delicate Baubles".  Make sure you save ALL the pieces. I had to die cut some extra tiny little pieces between the snowflakes because I somehow lost them from my Big Shot to my worktable.  And there's nothing on the floor.  They just disappeared! It's magic!!!  LOL

I cut a piece a Shaded Spruce to measure 4-3/4" x 3-1/2".   I cut the bulb again from the center of it. I needed to make sure I saved the tree pieces. The die cut piece mostly stayed together so I didn't lose any pieces for that one.

I didn't have the DSP that was used so I took out my Subtles 6" x 6" stack and found a piece of Pool Party color that would work. This looked festive enough to work so I went with it.  I taped this to the Shaded Spruce piece.

The Mint Macaron piece was cut 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" and it was taped about 7/8" from the top edge of the DSP.

The bulb was die cut using the thick Basic White card stock with a double-sided sticky sheet attached. I only had to save the top piece where you'd put a hook if it were real. I lost mine (figures) so I had to die cut another one.  The instructions suggested that after you die cut it you put it on another piece of thick card stock and then use the frame die and die cut that. He said he found it easier to do it that way than to try to set it in place after it's cut out.  SO I did that. I used some post it tape to hold it in place and the tape stuck to the card stock and I had to start over again.  You know, with all the things that haven't gone right, I still wanted to make this card!  So, I die cut another detailed one and I stuck it on a piece of card stock. I did tape it down but I only taped across the die and onto the card stock that would be scrap.  It worked and I proceeded (much happier).

I also took a tiny scrap of Daffodil Delight and die cut the star on the top of the tree.

Now I was ready to assemble. I grabbed my glue bottle, put some glue on my silicone pad and took a toothpick and proceeded to put all the pieces on the ornament.  I forgot to mention that when I die cut the Shaded Spruce bulb, I also die cut the now for the top.  Once all of the pieces were in place, I glued the now piece on, leaving the long hanger as it was.

The words are from the same "Bright Baubles" set and were stamped using Shaded Spruce ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I punched them out using the retired "Classic Label" punch and I cut off the ends. This piece measures 1-3/4" x 3/8". I added Dimensionals to it.

I set all the pieces on the card base for placement. Then I affixed the words. The bulb was then set in place. I folded the "string" of the bow over the back of the DSP/Shaded Spruce piece and I taped it in place. Then Dimensionals were added to the entire back of that piece.  It was set in place on the card base and the card was done.

With all that went wrong, it was still a fun card to make and I can see myself making more.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time stop in and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda

Dimensionals were added to the bulb
