Penguin Place, Mountain Air, Banner Year, Christmas Gift Tag

I was thinking about how nice the weather has been the past week. It's no longer super hot here in Minnesota. It's in the upper 70's and sometimes into the 80's but at least it's not the super hot stuff we've had most of the summer.  And I was thinking of winter being just a few months away as well as Christmas. Christmas made me think of making some Christmas gift tags this year since I have some time and found a cute and fun one to make. Now I need to decide on how many I'm going to make and I try not to think that they will just get thrown away after the package is open!

I found this tag on Pinterest but I did have to make a few changes. You can see the original tag here

The base of the tag is a 2" x 5" piece of thick Basic White card stock. I punched the top using the "Scalloped Tag" punch. I didn't have the tag dies that were used on the original card but I made this punch work!

I didn't have the tree that was used on the original card but I did have a tree die from the "Mountain Air" bundle so I used that on a piece of Fresh Freesia card stock. I did have to cut the tree down a bit, it was a pretty tall tree.

I stamped the tag using the snowflake images from the "Penguin Place" set using Fresh Freesia ink. I colored over the larger snowflakes using my Wink of Stella pen.  Did you notice it's been a few days since I've used it?  LOL

I fussy cut the penguin from the "Penguin Playmates" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I added Dimensionals to the back and set it aside.

There was a tiny bird on the piece of DSP that I cut the penguin from and I fussy cut it too. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, I just new I didn't want to put it in recycling just yet.

I put some Tombow Mono glue down on a piece of waxed paper and I set the tree on top to get some glue on it so it would stick to the tag. I set the tree in place about 1/2" up from the bottom. My tree measured 2-1/2" long after cutting it.

Now I knew where I was going to stamp the to and from. They are from the "Banner Year" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. Do you see the white showing around the black part of the penguin?  I did not use my black marker around him as I had done in the past. Do you see what a difference it makes? And do you see what a poor job I did cutting him out? Had I used the marker around the edges you would have thought I was SO great at fussy cutting. But I'm not and here's proof!  LOL

The penguin was added and then I thought I should use that cute little bird I fussy cut, so I glued it in place on the tag.

I took a 5" piece of Fresh Freesia ribbon and slipped it through the opening on the top of the tag. Then I took some white Baker's Twine and tied it around the ribbon. And that was it. A super quick and cute Christmas gift tag! And with room to write names large enough for people to read. Some of those store  bought tags don't leave a lot of room to write a name that is longer than 4 letters!

This was very fun to make and now I'm off to fussy cut a bunch of Penguins while I watch a movie. It doesn't seem like such a chore when I'm doing it in front of the tv.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this sweet Christmas tag,
Wanda
