Penguin Place, Christmas Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

A switch from Halloween cards. I thought we could use a little break from them right now. I have a list of ones I'd like to make but I needed a little change, so I thought I'd head back to the "Penguin Place" set and see what I could come up with there.

So, today's card is a fun, quick and easy one. It's made using one of my favorite layouts.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Fresh Freesia card stock. I cut the sheet in half on the 8-1/2" side so when it was cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  I folded it in half so the card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 3-1/2" x 4-1/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the layer.

Then I cut the Highland Heather card stock at 3" x 4-1/8" and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Penguin Playmates" 12" x 12" package was cut at 2-7/8" x 4".  

I lined up the DSP on the Highland Heather piece. I placed a little bit of tape where the opening is going to be punched. I needed to hold it in place.  I used a 1-1/4" punch to make the first circle. I punched both pieces together. Then I removed the card stock and punched the DSP with a piece of scrap copier paper behind it. I used the 1-3/8" punch for that. Line up the circle and punch out a small ring. You do need something behind the DSP or it will just rip or get caught in the punch. Then I taped the DSP to the Highland Heather piece.

The ribbon ends were taped to the back of the piece and a knot was tied in the front using a separate piece of ribbon. 

Next I stamped the word from the "Penguin Place" set using black Memento ink on a 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" piece of Basic White card stock. You can go larger, as long as the piece fits in the opening.  I added a few Dimensionals around the back of the circle and I set the words in place.  Then I added Dimensionals to the back of the card except on the word piece, there I just used tape and I set the piece in place on the front of the card.

I punched utu the penguin from the "Penguin Playmates" DSP and I also punched out one from some scrap Basic Black card stock (you can use white too) and I taped the two pieces together. I just wanted the penguin to have some substance to it. 

I taped the penguin in place to the right of the circle and on the ribbon line. I forgot to mention, the ribbon is 7/8" from the Highland Heather edge.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was added to the inside of the card and the card was done.

This was a very fun and quick card to make. This was the perfect paper for this layout.
