When I was looking for a card to make yesterday, I had run across this one so I saved it to make it today. It's a super easy and quick card to make. I love quick and easy. What I also liked about this card was I was able to stamp my pumpkin instead of punch it from the Designer Series Paper (DSP) "Cute Halloween" stack. And I also liked it that the card base was not Basic White like so many of my cards are!!! You can see the original card here. The original card is square. I don't make square cards because I don't have any square envelopes so I did my best to convert it.
The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Pumpkin Pie card stock. This card measured 4-1/4" x 11" before it was folded in half. This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.
I cut a 2-1/2" x 4" piece of the DSP with the ghosts, bats and skulls on it and I taped it in place at the bottom of the card front.
I cut a 3" x 3" piece of Basic White card stock and then I used the "Stitched Whimsey" die on top. I was not thrilled with my purchase of these dies. I have not used them much. I'm hoping to find more uses for them so I don't feel like I wasted my money on them. I think I've used them twice since I've purchased them. Not quite enough to justify the cost. Maybe I can work it into some upcoming Christmas cards.
I also cut a Basic Black layer that measured 3-1/4" x 3-1/4".
I stamped a pumpkin from the "Cutest Halloween" set on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using Pumpkin Pie ink for the solid part and Basic Black for the outline and the face. I did forget to color the stem in. And I was going to use my Old Olive marker to do that. I punched it out, added Dimensionals to the back and set it aside. I did set my piece of card stock in my Stamparatus and stamped the pumpkin three times to get it nice and solid and dark.
I stamped the spider from the same set using black Memento ink. I lined up a scrap piece of card stock and took my black marker and drew the line from the body to the top edge of the card. Then I taped this piece to the Basic White piece. I set the piece on top of the card so I could see where to stamp the words. The words were stamped using black Memento ink.
Dimensionals were added to the back of the Basic Black layer and was set in place on the card one inch above the bottom edge.
The pumpkin was added using Dimensionals and some enamel dots were added. I also added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock to the inside of the card and the card was done.
This was a fun card to make. I love how bright the Pumpkin Pie color looks. This was a nice way to use the "Cute Halloween" DSP too! I'm not a big fan of the black and white look but here it looks great.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to see today's kid friendly Halloween card,
Wanda

The "Stitched Whimsey" die framing out the 3x3 white piece is FANTASTIC!
