I had one more strawberry card I wanted to make using the "Sweet Strawberry" set before I put it back on the shelf. Yup, I will actually put it back on the shelf!! I'm trying hard to keep the room more organized. I've been working on drawers and next will be cupboards and after the cupboards will be the closet under the stairs. It's full of craft supplies. I'm trying to downsize some of my crafting stuff and get red of the obsolete stuff (to start with). I have scaled back on my crafts and plan to just keep what I know I will work on. I will continue to do cards! I love making cards. I find it fun and relaxing. I found today's card here.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Poppy Parade card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) used here is from the "Berry Delightful" 12" x 12" package. It was in the spring mini catalog and it is retired. But I still have a half a package left and I would really like to use it up. It's got some great designs in it.
The DSP was cut at 5-1/2" x 3-1/2". I had to convert the measurements from centimeters to inches. I may have messed up because the DSP should have been cut at 5-1/2" x 3-3/4" but I set mine so the sides were equal so it didn't look so short on each side. I could have trimmed the other end to make it measure 5-1/4" and it might have looked more even. But being the DSP looks like it melts right into the card stock it doesn't show as much.
On the left side is a piece of DSP from the same package and I die cut the strip using the "Painted Flowers" dies. I used the same print of DSP for the scalloped square frame (the dies are retired). I used the largest scalloped one for this card.
The Basic White piece was cut 2-3/4" x 2-3/4". I scrubbed in some Pool Party ink on it and heavier in the upper right corner.
I stamped the strawberries using Poppy Parade ink. I stamped the outline image twice to make it nice and dark and then I punched them out. I colored them with Blends pens in the following colors, Flirty Flamingo, Poppy Parade and Cherry Cobbler. I colored way outside the stamped outline image.
The stems were stamped using Granny Apple Green card stock and they were stamped using Granny Apple Green ink for both the outline and the solid part.
There is another leaf image with the blossoms on it. That was stamped using black Memento ink and then fussy cut. Do this first because it's the least fun part of this card!!! LOL I colored the leaves in using both light and dark Granny Apple Green Blends. And the flower was colored in on the center area using light Flirty Flamingo. I added a little Daffodil Delight to the center. The original card instructions said she took her light Pool Party Blends pen and colored around the blossoms and stem on the white part that was showing after fussy cutting. It blended better with the background. I taped the Basic White piece to the square DSP piece and set it in place using Dimensionals.
I taped the blossom piece in place first. I made sure not to press down on the leaves on the right.
Then I set the left strawberry in place and the right one went on top and under the blossoms and leaves piece.
I had some green twine left from a Paper Pumpkin kit and I tied a bow and glued it in place. That area really does need something. You can also take your Blends pen or marker and color white Baker's twine and make your own.
The words are from the same set and were stamped using black Memento ink on Basic White card stock. I die cut them using the Stitched oval die. And a Granny Apple Green scalloped oval was cut for the layer behind it. They were taped together and set in place using Dimensionals.
A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was added to the inside of the card and the card was done.
This was a fun card to make though I don't think I'd make another one. I didn't enjoy the fussy cutting on here and coloring the strawberries took more time than I thought they would.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this sweet birthday card,
Wanda
