Snowman Season, Merriest Frames, Christmas Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

I thought I'd set the Halloween sets aside briefly. I had an idea for a card and I wanted to make it before I forgot. Drawing it out on paper doesn't help. I forget what I drew because I can not draw!! LOL  So here's my card and how I made it.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and I textured it using the "Merriest Frames" embossing folder.  This folder makes a rectangle frame in the middle and there is also a matching die that will cut the piece out too. But since mine went over the edges I opted to just leave it as an embossed piece instead of embossed and cut.

I cut a Basic White rectangle to fit in side the embossed rectangle. It measured 2-7/8" x 2-1/8".  I stamped the snowman from "Snowman Season" using black Memento ink. I colored his scarf and hat in using the dark and light Balmy Blue Blends Pens.  I sponged a little Balmy Blue on the snowman's body. I sponged a little Shaded Spruce over the tree. The nose was colored in using the light Pumpkin Pie Blends pen. The edges were sponged with Balmy Blue and Dimensionals were added to the back.

I die cut the snowflakes from the "Christmas Layers" dies. I didn't purchase any of the new snowflake dies because it just wasn't in my budget. You can replace them with something current. I took my blending brush and colored over the snowflakes using Balmy Blue ink. I colored over it on a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock in the event that what ended up under the snowflakes would be fun to use.  And it was. I made sure that when I brushed over them I held the snowflake down so it didn't move.  I have a fun faded snowflake background. I may die cut another and brush around the open areas. But for now I'm going to finish this card!

The snowflakes were then colored over with the Wink of Stella pen to give them some shimmer. And then they were set in place on the lower right side of the card. I used glue and a toothpick to set the ends in place.

The snowman rectangle was now ready to be set in place.

The words are from the "Snowman Season" set and were stamped using Balmy Blue ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock.  The circle measures 1-3/8". I sponged the edges and added a few Dimensionals to the left side and glue to the right and set it in place.  And the card was done.

This was a very fun and sweet card to make. I am really liking the soft colors of this card.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this soft looking Christmas card,
Wanda

  1. Great card idea for this amazing Merriest Frames. I've actually used this bundle twice and have it on my table for a project idea for today. TFS!
