Penguin Place, Penguin Playmates, Christmas Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

The new Holiday mini and fall Sale-a-Brations catalogs were available to purchase from on August 3rd. I seem to have issues getting Chrome to work with my ordering. I have no idea what the issue is but for the last three big selling events I've had issues. I was able to use Edge for my browser the last two times but this time that didn't work either. I had ended up using my phone to order. I HATE typing on my phone let alone placing a Stampin' Up! order. I end up forgetting to add things or I don't hit the enter button. I found it frustrating.  This time I took hubby's iPad and used that to order and I was able to place it that way. It was a lot easier than using the phone but not as easy as using the computer. But I got it ordered on the 3rd and much to my surprise it arrived on Saturday the 7th.  I have never ever had an order arrive that quickly. I did get tracking info one time stating that an order was arriving at an early date like this but it ended up arriving from UPS to USPS and it took another 5 days to get to me.  So I didn't have my hopes up, I was thinking this is what was going on again.  But no, it was my order and it was here on Saturday. I was not ready to play with my new stuff yet. I still had some things on my list for the items I had purchased in June. I was able to hold off for a few days but today I couldn't stand it any longer. I had seen this cute card and it was bugging me to make.  So here it is.  You can see the original card here

So here's how I made this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I taped a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Penguin Playmates" 12" x 12" package.  I got the DSP free with a $50 order! I taped the DSP in place.

Next I took a piece of Basic White card stock and I used the second and third stitched rectangle dies and die cut the frame. The original card used the largest and second largest but I thought a little smaller would help shrink that wide open area on the top. I cut off the bottom plus 1-1/4" up on the sides. You can use a scissors for this because the penguins will hide the ends.

I took another piece of Basic White card stock that measured 4-1/4" x 2-1/4" and I cut a couple of hills on each side and a little valley in the middle. The words from the "Penguin Place" were stamped on this piece using Just Jade ink. I didn't think I had that color but I did find a cube that was from a Paper Pumpkin kit.  The original card centered the words. I didn't pay attention but they look good off to the side too. Then this piece was taped in place on the front of the card. The frame was then glued in place. It wasn't wide enough for tape but you can try if you want. Glue was just easier for me.

The Penguins were fussy cut from a piece of the DSP and were set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. Here's a tip for you: Before I set them in place I took my black marker and I traced around the edges of the areas where the parts are black. It helps hide the white showing from imperfect fussy cutting. I could have done the feet but the white doesn't show up that much, not like it did on the black. Now it looks like perfect fussy cutting!

I added some "Subtle Shimmer Sequins" from the new holiday catalog. They were glued in place and the card was done.

This was a very fun and easy card to make, even with the fussy cutting!

Thank you SO much for taking your time today to see this fun Christmas card,
Wanda
