The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Fresh Freesia card stock.
I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. One for the front and one for the inside.
The dotted strip and the Fresh Freesia colored Designer Series Papers (DSP) are from the "Penguin Playmates" 12" x 12" package. The dotted strip measures 4" x 1-1/4" and the Fresh Freesia piece was cut at 4" x 2-1/4". The dotted piece was taped to a 4" x 1-3/8" piece of Fresh Freesia card stock. And the other piece of DSP was taped to a 4-1/8" x 2-3/8" piece of Fresh Freesia card stock.
I set the pieces on the Basic White piece so I could see where the snowflakes would be stamped. They were from the same "Penguin Place" and were stamped using Fresh Freesia ink. After they were stamped, I taped the dotted strip in place about 1-1/4" from the bottom of the Basic White piece. The other layer was taped in place about 1/2" from the bottom of the Basic White piece.
The Basic White panel the penguin is on measures 1-3/4" x 2-5/8" and the layer behind it was cut at 1-7/8" x 2-3/4". I stamped the snowflakes on the piece using Fresh Freesia ink that was stamped off once. Then I took my blending brush and scrubbed the whole area with Fresh Freesia ink. it was just too bright and it needed to be toned down. The two layers were then taped together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card lining up the top and two sides so they were equal distances apart from the edges.
The penguin was made by punching out a Basic Black piece and a Basic White piece of card stock. The eyes were stamped using black Memento ink and the bead was stamped using Crushed Curry ink. I was going to use Pumpkin Pie but I thought it would be too dark and your eyes would go directly to it. Crushed Curry was much more subtle. I glued the two body pieces together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the center of the panel.
The feet were stamped using Crushed Curry in on Basic White card stock, a scrap piece will do. They were then punched out. Small Dimensionals were added to each foot and they were set in place on the penguin.
The words are from the same set and were stamped using black Memento ink. They were cut to 1/2" x 1-7/8" and the layer behind it was cut at 5/8" x 2". The two pieces were taped together and set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. The words were supposed to be evenly spaced from the penguin panel and the bottom of the long panel but I got mine a little too high. But it's okay, it still looks fine.
I added the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White to the inside and the card was done.
This was a very fun card to make. I am loving the look of the Fresh Freesia for the Christmas cards. Not a color I would have picked for Christmas but I am liking it.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see todays Christmas card,
Wanda
